About Us:
Seventh Triangle Consulting is a Shopify-focused engineering consultancy. We build and maintain public Shopify apps used by merchants globally, alongside custom app development and retainer projects for clients. Our team of 10 engineers works at the intersection of e-commerce, product engineering, and AI-assisted development.
We are an AI-first team. Every engineer at STC is expected to use AI tools to move faster, think bigger, and deliver better.
The Role:
We are looking for a Tech Lead to own the technical health of a squad of engineers working on Shopify public apps and client projects. You will be the first line of quality, the first point of escalation, and the person who keeps delivery on track without needing to be managed yourself.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will still write code, review PRs, debug production issues, and jump on client calls. But you will also be accountable for how your squad performs, not just how you perform individually.
What You Will Own:
Technical Ownership
- Review and merge PRs, enforce code quality standards across your squad
- Identify and resolve production bugs, own the RCA process end to end
- Monitor AWS CloudWatch logs for retainer apps, catch issues before clients do
- Define technical solutions for complex problem statements
- Contribute to architecture decisions on new apps and features
Project and Client Management
- Handle client calls for smaller projects with solution, not just status updates
- Manage project timelines and flag delivery risks early
- Own server management for projects in your squad
- Train developers on project-specific context and workflows
People Management
- Manage developer task pipeline to know what everyone is working on and what is blocked
- Approve and manage leave and WFH requests for your squad
- Identify skill gaps and coach developers proactively
Prerequisites:
Non-Negotiable
- Shopify app development experience with public apps or custom apps (not just themes)
- AWS hands-on experience with EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, basic IAM
- Strong written and spoken English: You will write client updates, document solutions, and run calls
- Architecture thinking so you can break a problem into components before writing a single line
- AI-first development workflow so you actively use AI tools to build, review, and debug daily
- PR review experience so you have enforced quality standards on a team, not just your own code
- Independent RCA capability so you find root causes, you do not just fix symptoms
Good to Have
- Shopify public app store listing and subscription billing experience
- Retainer project management in a consulting or agency environment
- Error monitoring tools like Sentry, Datadog, or similar
- Multi-merchant SaaS architecture experience
Tech Stack
Platform: Shopify APIs, Shopify CLI, Liquid, Polaris, Shopify Functions and Extensions Infrastructure: AWS EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, Bastion Server, CI/CD Development: Node.js, React, Git, REST and GraphQL APIs, AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, etc.)

Every engineer uses AI tools to move faster and think better. But AI is a multiplier, not a replacement for judgment. You need to know when the AI is right, when it is confidently wrong, and how to fix it either way.
We communicate in plain English, not jargon. We own our work from architecture to deployment. We do not wait to be told if something looks wrong, we flag it or fix it.

- You think leadership means not writing code anymore
- You need very detailed specs before you can start
- You cannot spot when AI-generated code is wrong
- You treat code review as a formality
- You need to be chased for updates or delivery status
